our extended british family

on saturday afternoon, we had members of our british family swing by for a visit.  bethany and rochelle texted to drop by and after a string of delays, allowed them to come up

the midwife came in and said "someone who like guiness is here to see you"  i thought to myself quickly, that doesn't sound like b or rochelle, and then she quipped "but then again...who doesn't" making the process that much harder.

steve had coordinated with r&b.  ak was delighted to see our friends
ak with r&b (rochelle and bethany)
the first observation of carson...everyone admiring his splendor and awesomeness (which if you remember, was off the charts).

steve, ak, r&b - i see now why teresa called steve "mr. guiness"

bethany holding carson.  she was a natural (all that babysitting in nebraska was evident)

carson admiring all of the friendly faces
ak had been busy with carson at lunchtime, so decided to take the opportunity of helping hands to get some food...served to her on a silver platter (or close enough).

lunch complete with poached chicken, veg, omelette, ratatouille, pecan pie, ice cream sundae, and tea (had to order plenty for the two of us!)

we are so lucky to have such good friends.  a family away from family.
amidst the flury of activity, teri (the amazing midwife who was there with ak for her entire shift friday) dropped by to check on mum and son.  even after the labour, teri was focused on ak.  we are truly blessed to have had such supportive and encouraging professionals helping us.

teri, the ever encouraging midwife with ak and carson
after being able to introduce our friends to teri, carson was handed off to rochelle.  she wasn't quite as a natural as bethany, but she was a quick learner
carson told a funny joke (either that or nervous laughter)

steve was a natural as well.  i'm sure meg would have been proud
it was really great having our friends visit.  after a late lunch, our next treat came:
it wouldn't be a baby in britain without an afternoon tea!
ak's mom was also here, supporting and encouraging as usual.
the proud grandma and grandson
before taking off for another attempt at wimbledon, rochelle and bethany needed another quick hold.

aftar all the activity, carson was tired and needed a nap.  what better place for a nap than on mommy's chest.  it also made for a fantistic photo op of the family.
